Mojave (Bentley)

I have had Bentley (or "Mojave") for nearly two weeks now and I honestly cannot imagine not having him in my life. He has adjusted so well! He already has his spot where he sleeps every night which just so happens to be on my pillow. He's such a character. If he's not taking his mid-afternoon nap, he's bouncing off the walls (and I mean that quite literally). But even though he has tons of energy, he still finds time to come cuddle with his momma. Bentley is just wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a better best friend

Victoria (Kitala)

Here are some pics of what these two have been up to -- they are quite a pair!! We changed their names to Tanka (Valentino) and Kitala, Kit for short (Victoria) -- Lakota Sioux words for "big" and "little".

Tucker

Tucker was adopted after waiting over 2 years! On her first night in her new home she gave us all quite a scare. She found the only existing hole in the wall she could fit in, under the sink and she wouldn't come out except to eat and poop (which she did on one of my shirts, LOL). She was finally outsmarted with a humane trap and that nasty hole was sealed up. Here are some updates from her new family. -- Michelle

Tucker and Naomi are doing so great:) Tucker never hides at all anymore and has become a lot more social and talkative. She usually comes very quickly after I call her name, wherever she is. She's such a smart cat. She even comes out and stays with us when strangers come over! I need to post this picture we took of Naomi and Tucker sleeping together on our couch..its adorable. Tucker's such a sweet girl...she is constantly sitting on my lap and waiting for tummy rubs. Whenever I go, there she is to keep me company! Naomi still chases her, I think its play now instead of agression. It keeps them both fit I suppose! Just thought I'd drop in and say hello and thank you for introducing us to our family members...we love them very much and can't imagine our lives without them. I think its great that you are finding homes for so many cats...i don't know when you find the time, but its really special what you do Michelle:)

She's doing great! She sits on my lap all the time and even slept on my stomach last night. She rolls over and lets me scratch her tummy and pads a lot after I pet her! Naomi is very possessive of Kerry and I, but she's all bark and no bite. She likes to hiss at Tucker, but Tucker is faster than Naomi and has no problem dealing with her. She has a much safer place to hide from Naomi now...just under our bed and she always comes out when I call her. I think Naomi's learning to tolerate her...they are both in the bedroom right now and Naomi's leaving her alone. Tucker loves the window sill and likes to jump all around from place to place. She's very different from Naomi, but that's what Kerry and I love about cats; they have such varied personalities. She's such a sweet girl and I'm glad she warmed up so quickly. Kerry and I were worried that she wouldn't be happy here...I guess we didn't need to be! (She's actually sitting on my lap as a type this!) Thanks so much for your help. -- Kristy.

We finally got Tucker! We heard her around 2 and opened the cupboard and saw her...but we didn't want to scare her and Naomi was right there, so she went back in the wall. Kerry went to bed since he has to work tomorrow morning. About 3 in the morning, I was trying to be really quiet and wait things out at the computer in case she came out. So I was just listening to music with my headphones on and the lights out and "snap" went the trap! I got Kerry and I comforted Tucker while he made sure to seal off that stupid hole behind the sink. So now the base board is nailed in, we are going to screw in magnets to hold the cupboards and we sealed off the hole. She's not getting in there ever again! We put her in the cage for now, and in the morning I'll rotate her cage into the bedroom and bring Naomi out here so Tucker can get used to us. She looks great! She even let me pet her and she nuzzled my hand. She's eating and drinking and she doesn't even look dirty. I don't think the hole went as far as we thought it did. I just wanted to let you know that the prayers helped and she's just fine. Thanks for all your help Michelle! We'll do our best to make her comfortable here!

We used the smaller trap last night, and it didn't catch her, but good news! She ate her food and she did poop and pee (unfortunately in your jacket), so she's at least a little less scared than before. The jacket was definitely a great idea! I set up the big trap this morning, put on some cartoons, and Naomi and I are going to hang out in the bedroom for awhile and see what happens. I just wanted you to know that she is okay and we've seen signs of her and heard her collar jingling today and yesterday. I guess our prayers have been working! We boarded up the base board last night, so once we get Tucker captured and in her cage, we are going to seal everything else off so this never happens again. I'm just so relieved that Tucker is okay and isn't going to starve in the wall. I will let you know as soon as I can if we get her with the live trap.

Princess Naomi
Princess Naomi

Princess was adopted by a wonderful young couple after coming to TCR to adopt a kitten. Princess being an older cat had waited many years and is now a very spoiled kitty.

UPDATE 05-23-2009)Naomi, as she is now called, has a companion! Kerry & Kristy came back to TCR to adopt Tucker (another long-term resident). Tucker gave them quite the experience ... see Tucker's success story! Naomi still isn't sure about Tucker but is slowly warming up and will now have a companion to rule the roost with! We are so very happy for the entire family!
